How to maintain Fitness during Holiday Season

I love Christmas, for me it is the best time of the year. How can it no be?
It is summer, time to have a break and have a holiday with family. But remember it takes only 2 weeks to lose your strength.

To keep your fitness on track, here are a few things you can do for yourself during this season.

1 – Get up early and start the day with exercise. This way you feel better as the day goes on, and at the end of the day you are probably going to feel tired.
2  – Eat well as much as you can during the day. Portion control, plenty of veggies. So if you are going to a friend’s house or a school function whatever comes up, you can eat a few extras. But remember you have the control of how much you eat.

3 – Drink plenty of water. That will help you feel full for longer as well. And probably you are going to have some alcohol to drink. Drinking water between a glass of wine is a good idea to keep you hydrated and to over drinking. Remember alcohol is empty calories loaded with sugar. Better types of alcohol will be wine, champagne or vodka with soda and lime.

4 – Planning ahead is always a good idea. Keeping your calories and macros on track is crucial for this crazy season.

5 – If you are going away for a holiday with family it is always good to check what you can do to burn the extra calories. Myself I always have a big walk with my family. The longest and the hardest are my favourite ones: Up heels pushing a stroller or in the sand on the beach.

6 – When you are in holiday I suggest don’t plan to do to much exercise everyday, especially if you have a kids. I am a fitness fanatic, and once in the past I planned too much but in the end I only trained twice a week. I realised it was a holiday and my kids wanted enjoy my company just as I want to spending time with them as well. Most of the days we did a long walk.

7 – Keeping yourself on track doesn’t mean getting paranoid about everything you eat or drink.

Enjoy the season it happens once a year. Just keep in mind make the best choice in every meal you eat and keep moving.

I hope you have a great holiday season!!!

Have a great a Fantastic New Year 2018!!!
